Lois Zielinski (Thomas)

Lois Theresa Zielinski Thomas was born July 28, 1946 in Carteret, New Jersey, daughter of Dorothy Abernethy Zielinski and the late Edward Zielinski.    Prior to her later years as a dedicated homemaker, Lois was an operator for Bellsouth, a dispatcher for a cab company in Atlantic City, NJ, and a secretary for St. Andrews College.  She grew up attending the East Laurinburg Baptist Church with her family. Lois enjoyed bowling and managed the children’s league for several years. She was actively involved and loved being in all of her children’s activities, including serving as the Girl Scout Cookie Chairman for many years. Above all, Lois loved sharing her time with family and friends and will be remembered as a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend. She passed away at age 74 on Monday, May 24, 2021.

Along with her father, she is preceded in death by her sister, Michele Zielinski.

Lois leaves behind to cherish her memory, husband, Robert Thomas of the home; sons, Richard Thomas (Ann) of Marston, Robert Thomas, II (Gail) of Laurinburg; daughter, Michele Thomas Hegwer (Kenneth) of Laurinburg; mother, Dorothy Zielinski of East Laurinburg; grandchildren, Angela Dawn Hudson, James Stephen Hudson (Heather), Courtney Hegwer Reed (Huley), Cayleigh M. Hegwer; great grandchildren, Ashley Hudson, Dustin Hudson, Brian Hudson, Joshua Reed, Kenleigh Reed, Brenna Reed, Hailie Cox, Bobby Cox, along with a host of nieces, nephews, and many friends.

A Memorial service will be at 6:00 p.m. Thursday, May 27, 2021 at the Richard Boles Funeral Service Chapel. The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 2101 Rexford Rd., Charlotte, NC 28211.
